  • (Theory: 80,Internal: 20)


NOTE FOR PAPER SETTER

  1. Paper setter will set nine questions in all, out of which students will be required to attempt five questions.
  2. Q.No 1 will be compulsory and will carry 16 marks. There will be four short -answer type Questions of 4 marks each to be selected from the entire syllabus.
  3. Two long answer type question will be set from each of the four units, out of which the student will be required to attempt one question from each unit. Long- answer type questions will carry 16 marks each.


Course Outcomes

After completion of this course the students teacher will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of Science and get acquainted with Aims and objectives of Teaching Science.
  2. Understand bloom’s taxonomy of objectives and table of specifications.
  3. Perform pedagogical analysis of various concepts in teaching Science.
  4. Develop skills of teaching and lesson planning.
  5. Understand the principles of curriculum constructions and critical analysis of book.
  6. Manage science laboratories.
  7. Familiarize with various approaches and methods of teaching of Science.
  8. Understand the concept of continuous and comprehensive evaluation.

UNIT – I

NATURE & SCOPE OF SCIENCE

  • Meaning, Nature and Scope with reference to Science & its branches.
  • History of science and contribution of Indian Scientists.
  • Need & importance Science in secondary school & its values in the present context.
  • Correlation of science with other school subjects
  • Aims & objectives of Science.
  • Bloom’s Taxonomy of instructional objectives.
  • Science in the service of human welfare – Agriculture, Medicine, Industry & Conservation of Environment.

APPROACHES AND EVALUATION IN TEACHING

Praticum/Sessional

Any one of the following:

  1. Development of Five Demonstration Experiments on the Topics Covered in the Syllabus from Science Test-books at the Lower Secondary Level.
  2. Improvisation of Apparatus/Equipment
  3. Seminar Presentation on any Topics given in the Syllabus.
  4. Celebration of science week in a village school and report writing
  5. Conducting a survey on health concerns in a village
