Smallpox is known as a serious infectious disease. Even grown-up people also come under the grip of this infection.

• This infection is caused by Typical Viruses.
• However, the spread of infection is also caused by droplets and scabs floating in the air.

Sign And Symptoms of Smallpox There is chill and headache in the beginning. Sometimes face becomes red. Severe pain in the back and limbs of the body. After 3 or 4 days, eruptions appear on the forehead. Then they spread throughout the body and become watery blisters, diminishing, eruption becomes dry and at last crust starts falling. Treatment The stomach should be clean. Give light easily digestible food Use soap water enemas as a purgative. Used greasy substance for removing scabs. When the temperature goes above, place a cold compress or ice bad over the head. Use boric lotion for reducing pain in the eyes.

Precautions A child suffering from this disease should be segregated from others. Also Read: Principles Of First Aid Patient should be kept in a clean place. No medicine should be given except proper nursing. Child should be got vaccinated against smallpox. Patient should not be given salt.
